Well, hello there, young folks! Let me tell ya, this here Spotify thing, it’s got good music, but sometimes it acts like a chicken with its head cut off, playin’ the same song over and over. Drives me nuts, I tell ya! So, I figured out how to get rid of them extra songs, and it ain’t rocket science, even this old woman can do it.
First thing’s first, you gotta open up that Spotify thingy on your phone or computer, whatever you got. Then, you gotta find your music, they call it “Your Library.” It’s like your own little music box, but bigger, way bigger.
Now, find the playlist that’s got them repeat songs. You know, the ones that make you wanna pull your hair out. Click on that playlist, and you’ll see all your songs lined up like little soldiers.
Here’s the tricky part, but don’t worry, I’ll make it easy for ya. You gotta select all them songs. One way to do it is to tap on the first song, then hold down your finger, or if you’re on a computer, hold down that “Shift” key, and then tap on the last song. Boom! Everything’s selected. It’s like catchin’ all the chickens in the coop at once.
Another way, if you’re fancy, is to press that “Ctrl” key and click on each song you wanna get rid of. But that’s too much work for me. I like the easy way, selectin’ everything all at once.
- Open Spotify
- Go to Your Library
- Select the playlist with duplicates
- Select all songs (Shift + click first and last song)
Now, some folks say Spotify can find them duplicates for ya. They say there’s a button somewhere that says “Remove duplicates.” But I ain’t never seen it. Maybe it’s hidden, like a fox in the henhouse. If you see it, good for you! Click it and be done with it. But if you don’t, don’t fret.
Here’s what I do. After I select all them songs, I look for a way to sort ’em. You know, like puttin’ all the apples in one basket and all the oranges in another. There’s usually a little button that says “Sort,” or somethin’ like that. Click on it, and then sort by “Name.” That way, all them songs with the same name will be bunched together, like peas in a pod.
Now, you can see them duplicates clear as day. Just go through the list and delete the extra ones. It’s like weeding the garden, gettin’ rid of all the unwanted stuff. Just tap on the song you don’t want and hit the “Delete” button. Or sometimes it says “Remove.” Same difference. Just get rid of it!
You gotta be careful though, don’t go deletin’ the good ones! Make sure you’re only deletin’ the extras. It’s like sortin’ beans, you don’t wanna throw out the good ones with the bad.
And that’s it! You’ve cleaned up your playlist, no more repeat songs. Now you can listen to your music in peace, without feelin’ like you’re stuck in a loop. It’s like finally gettin’ that rooster to stop crowin’ at 4 in the mornin’. Peace and quiet.
This whole thing might sound complicated, but it ain’t. Just follow my steps, and you’ll be a Spotify pro in no time. And if you get stuck, just ask your grandkids, they know all this tech stuff better than we do. They’re like little wizards with them phones and computers.

One more thing, some smarty pants out there made somethin’ called Dedup, it helps clean up playlists too, but I never used it, so I can’t tell ya much about it. Sounds fancy though!
