What’s that thing, “Instagram User” in them messages, the DMs? I don’t get it. My grandson, he’s always on that phone, showing me pictures. Says it’s this Instagram thing. Now I see “Instagram User” pop up. What’s that mean? Means trouble?
Sometimes, you see a name, like “Sarah” or “John.” Then other times, it just says “Instagram User.” Makes no sense. Like someone’s hiding or something. Maybe they done something wrong? Or maybe that Instagram, it’s doing something fishy. I don’t know. My grandson, he just shrugs. Kids these days! They don’t explain nothing.
I heard some folks talking down at the market. They say it means someone’s gone. Like they ain’t on Instagram no more. They say they deleted their thing, their account. Is that it? Maybe. But then, someone else said, no, it means Instagram got rid of them. Kicked them off. For being bad, maybe? Like they posted something they shouldn’t have.
And then there’s this other thing. Someone said that “Instagram User” means they don’t want to talk to you no more. They blocked you, they said. Blocked! Like you’re some kind of bad person. I don’t like that. Why would someone block you? It’s rude. Just say you don’t want to talk. No need to be sneaky about it. These new apps make people mean. That’s what I think.
So, “Instagram User,” it could be a few things. Someone’s gone, someone’s in trouble, or someone just doesn’t like you. That’s what I’ve gathered. Ain’t none of it good. It’s just confusing. This Instagram user is a pain. I wish people would just use their real names. Like in the old days. We just talked face to face. No hiding behind some “Instagram User” business.
Now, my grandson, he showed me these other things, these apps. They say they can tell you who the “Instagram User” is. He says, “Don’t trust them, Grandma.” Says they’re no good. They’re scams, he says. Trying to trick you. And Instagram doesn’t like them. So, I guess you just gotta let it be. If it’s “Instagram User,” maybe it’s best to just leave it alone.
Another thing I seen on that Instagram is these shiny pictures, stickers they call them. My grandson says there is a whole bunch of new ones. Seventeen he said! What for, I don’t know. Seems like a lot of fuss for nothing. They use it to show how they are feeling, he says. Happy, sad, all that. We used to just say it with words. But I guess these young folks like their pictures. It’s a different world.
I heard that Instagram, they make these new things all the time. My grandson says that’s why it’s always changing. One day it’s this, next day it’s that. Too fast for me. They got this new thing now where you can save pictures, right to your phone. Save photos they call it. Before, you couldn’t do that. Or maybe you could, but it was harder. I don’t know, like I said it changes all the time. Hard to keep up.
Here’s what I think about this whole “Instagram User” thing:
- Gone: Maybe they left Instagram. Don’t want to use it no more.
- Trouble: Maybe Instagram kicked them off for being bad.
- Blocked: Maybe they just don’t want to talk to you. Rude, I say.
- Scams: Don’t trust them apps that say they can tell you who it is. They’re lying.
- Confusing: That’s what it is. Just plain confusing.
Instagram is alright, I guess. You can see pictures of your family, your friends. See what they’re up to. That’s nice. But all this other stuff, these “Instagram Users,” these stickers, these changing things, it’s too much. I just want to see pictures of my grandkids. Is that too much to ask? Maybe I’m just old-fashioned. But I think things were simpler before. You talked to people, you knew who they were. No hiding behind “Instagram User.” Just plain and simple. That’s how it should be. This Instagram, it’s a whole lot of bother for a little bit of good. That’s my two cents, anyway. And that “Instagram User” thing? Just a headache, if you ask me.
You know, back in my day, we didn’t have all this fancy technology. We just talked to each other. Face to face. You knew who you were talking to. No mystery about it. Now, with this Instagram, you got folks hiding behind “Instagram User.” Like they got something to hide. Makes you wonder, don’t it? What are they hiding? Why can’t they just use their real name? It’s all a bit fishy to me.
I guess that’s just the way things are now. Everything’s online. Everything’s hidden. You don’t know who’s who anymore. It’s a shame, really. We’re losing something important, I think. That personal connection. That face-to-face interaction. It’s all going away, replaced by these screens and these “Instagram Users.” It makes my head spin, I tell ya. It really does. I hope my grandson, he remembers how to talk to people in real life. Not just through that phone. That’s all I can hope for, I guess. This instagram dm is making me feel old.
